DIET & WEIGHT LOSS
Tannins from Sorghum, an ancient old-world cereal grass used as fodder plants , has been the focus of a study performed by a team of scientists led by Kansas State University and US Department of Agriculture researchers.
Their main goal was to understand the role of tannins, polyphenolic compounds that bind to proteins and cause their precipitation , how could tannins from Sorghum be modified to be used as food and feed .
Tannins are known to have a high antioxidant value, they exert anti-inflammatory and UV-protective properties . We can find tannins in herbs as Witch hazel, tarragon, cumin, thyme, cinnamon, vanilla, cloves , grains such as finger millets and barley , in legumes as beans (red beans, white beans), peanuts, chickpeas, in chocolate, in pomegranates, persimmons, berries, nuts and last but not least in drinks as wine , responsible for its bitter taste and where its precipitation produces these characteristic sediments. WEIGHT LOSS & DIET
African mango (Irvingia gabonensis) is an indigenous fruit tree of West and Central Africa, which has been identified locally as the most important tree for domestication. Interest on the fruits of this tree, the so-called African mango, has recently raised in western developed countries as a new dietary supplement able to fight obesity and control weight.
Many are the claims made for those manufacturing and producing African mango extract to control weight, but are those claims founded or are we in front of another hoax?
Scientific research and clinical trials suggest that indeed, African mango is able to help you lose weight, as well as to significantly reduce waist circumference and hip circumference.
In one double blind placebo trial to which we refer later on, an average weight loss of 12.8 Kg was observed after 10 weeks [12,15]. Image left: Mango watch update by John Asselin under Creative Commons license (CC BY 2.0).

CAN BEANS HELP YOU LOOSE WEIGHT?
More than one billion human adults worldwide are overweight . Obesity has not only been an image and self-esteem problem for those suffering it, it has also other resultant health hazards which include diabetes, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome, all worldwide medical problems .
In spite control of diet and exercise are cornerstones of the management of excess weight, researchers have been also investigating other ways to control weight, the research into products that slow the absorption of carbohydrates through the inhibition of enzymes responsible for their digestion . Among some of them, we have the so-called alpha-amylase and glucosidase inhibitors.
The common white bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) produces an alpha-amylase inhibitors or starch blockers, which have been characterized and tested in numerous clinical studies , demonstrating their ability to cause weight loss with doses of 500 to 3000 mg per day, in either a single dose or in divided doses . DIET & WEIGHT LOSS
It is generally believed that a daily intake of cinnamon and honey tea, first half hour before breakfast while you still have an empty stomach, and at a second time at night, just before sleeping, helps to lower body weight.
The drink is pure honey and cinnamon powder boiled in a cup of cinnamon and honey tea. It is believed that when taken regularly, the cinnamon and honey tea helps to reduce body weight, but is there any scientific evidence or research that could found these claims?
