HOW TO Make your own organic Dead Sea mud mask


The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. It is known to produce one of the most renown therapeutic mud around the world, used to produce soaps and cosmetic products as well as to serve as the base for the production of many others.

Dead Sea mud has some amazing properties such as keeping the skin radiant and healthy looking. It also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

According to researchers at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, treatment with mineral-rich mud compresses can be used to augment conventional medical therapy [1]. Image: See credits under ref. [2] below.



It not only has all of these wonderful properties but it helps treat various skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema and acne. The dead sea soap is also known to suppress itching, removes dead skin and is cleanses. Following these easy steps, you can achieve a moisturising mud mask that can be used all over your body. 



First gather your ingredients. For this recipe you will need very few DEAD SEA SOAPingredients:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Glass decanter with a lid 1/2 cup Dead Sea mud
  • 4 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops chamomile essential oil
  • 1 drop peppermint essential oil
  • Spoon
  • Cloth
  • Water

Lavender oil is widely used in lotions, infusions, gels and perfumes. This oil is not only great for relieving stress and relieving tension but it also disinfects your skin and can even treat respiratory problems.

Due to its relaxing effects, lavender essential oil has been traditionally recommended as a sleep aid. You'll be amazed how relaxing can be the scent of lavender essential oil. 



Chamomile oil is a natural soother and it works great as an anti-inflammatory. It relaxes skin irritations such as eczema and acne. It also reduces the irritation on sunburns.



Peppermint oil is mostly used in soaps, shampoos, chewing gum, ice cream and tea. Its health benefits include the ability to treat nausea, headaches and respiratory problems.

Peppermint oil contains many minerals and nutrients including manganese, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium, and copper.

In third place, you can pour 1/2 a cup of Dead Sea mud into a large mixing bowl. Then add the oils, 4 drops lavender oil, 3 drops chamomile oil and 1 drop peppermint oil, and mix them all together with a spoon.

  1. Wet your face. Then get about a tablespoon of your mud mask and apply it lightly to your face. Make sure you avoid your eyes and mouth. If you notice burning on your skin or irritation remove the mask with water.
  2. Leave your mask on for 10 minutes. After this time has passed get a face cloth and lightly remove it with warm water.
