Dietary antioxidants improve erectile dysfunction (ED)
Quercetin and erectile dysfunction
Several are the factors for which male population suffer from Erectile dysfunction (ED), among some of them we can cite obesity, stress, hormonal levels, diabetes mellitus, smoking, hypercholesterolaemia, hypertension, oxidative stress...etc. This last one, Oxidative stress has been demonstrated to have a direct link with the occurrence of erectile dysfunction [1].
Recent studies on the subject suggest that there is a direct link between dietary intake of antioxidant and a lower incidence of erectile dysfunction.
FRAGARIA ANANASSA
Family: Rosaceae
Genus: Fragaria
Common name: Strawberry
One of this studies, performed in rats and involving the use of quercetin, a bioflavonoid and very powerful antioxidant agent exerting anti-scavenging properties, it was demonstrated that quercetin was able to increase intra-cavernous pressure in diabetic rats [1], ameliorating ED.
Quercetin is believed to have several other benefits for the human body, among which we can mention its anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and antioxidant properties. Quercetin has indeed about four times the antioxidant properties of Vitamin C. The antioxidants properties of quercetin may also play a role on the anti-cancer role exerted by this bioflavonoid.

Apples (mainly apple peel) are rich in quercetin, the bioflavonoid from the group of flavonoids discovered in 1938 by the Hungarian scientist Albert Szent Byorgyi.
