Plumbagin for the treatment of Osteoclastogenesis and Breast Cancer

We already heard about the anti-Helicobacter pylori properties of Plumbago zeylanica in a recent article about the subject, were 15 Chinese medicinal herbs were studied in order to find out if they could be able to inhibit urease, an enzyme that is generally produced by pathogens as Helicobacter pilori and that help the bacteria to resist and persist in the mucous layer of the stomach, but what we didn't know yet was the powerful anti-cancer activity of one of the active components of Plumbago zeylanica, Plumbagin, an active constituent found in Plumbago zeylanica that has shown incredible properties exerted by the vitamin K3 analogue from the Ayurvedic medicinal plant Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica) Plumbagin. WHAT IS PLUMBAGIN? PLUMBAGIN AND BREAST CANCER
Plumbagin, the active constituent found in Plumbago zeylanica, was found in Chitrak, an Ayurvedic medicinal plant used in other traditional ayurvedic herbal remedies. Plumbagin is able to modulate RANKL (a tumor necrosis factor associated with cancer associated bone re-absorption), osteoclastogenesis and breast cancer induced osteolysis. The study showed how Plumbagin was able to suppress also differentiation of these cells into osteoclasts.
The overall results of this study indicate that Plumbagin, an active constituent found in Plumbago zeylanica, is a potent inhibitor of osteoclastogenesis induced by tumor cells and of breast cancer induced osteolytic metastasis through suppression of RANKL signalling.
PLUMBAGIN FOR PANCREATIC CANCER
In other studies Plumbagin was able to inhibit the growth of Panc-1 and Bxpc-3 cancer cells [7], something that open the door for further studies, trials and investigations for the use of plumbagin as a novel source of anticancer drugs against pancreatic cancer.
