ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS
Among the multiple active constituents found in Allium victorialis we can mention Gitogenin 3-O-lycotetroside, gitogenin, astragalin and kaempferol [1].
TRADITIONAL MEDICINAL USE
One of the active constituents of Allium victorialis extracted from the plant, namely gitogenin 3-O-lycotetroside, exerted certain cytotoxic activities against cancer cell lines. It seems that the disulfides produced secondarily were the anti-tumor principles [1].
Extracts of Allium victorialis exerted a significantly high toxicity against two oral tumor cell lines, and less significant againstnormal human gingival fibroblasts, suggesting their tumor-specific action
