Isofraxidin is a major coumarin isolated from Acanthopanax senticosus but also found in other herbs as fresh celery (Apium graveolens). It is extracted from the stem bark of Acanthopanax senticosus (Araliaceae), commonly known as Siberian ginseng. Isofraxidin exerted certain anti-stress properties in scientific studies on this subject. Isofraxidin also exerted anti-tumor effects on human hepatoma cell lines HuH-7 and HepG2 . In a study on this active constituent , Isofraxidin significantly inhibited hepatoma cell invasion, property that might be used to create new effective drugs that will use this property as agent for suppressing hepatoma cell invasion.
